The landscape can change many times on a road trip across the country and the locals will change just as much. With so much to explore, no list of top destinations in the USA can ever be complete—but I made one anyway.

Below I list 50 top destinations in the USA, divided into five categories:

Many of these spots are highly popular among Americans and people throughout the world, while others simply tell an important story of America’s heritage. Let’s start with the obvious American location: Washington, DC’s National Mall.
